Greetings From Hell

After reboarding the ship the following morning we awoke in the British West Indies on the lovely Grand Cayman. Now this island was what I envisioned when I planned my vacation. It was simply beautiful and I was ready to explore!

The island is famous for is black coral and is surrounded by Coral Garden Reefs so the ship docked out in the ocean and we took little boats to the island that ran about every 5-minutes as not to disturb the reef. It took less than 10-minutes to get to the dock and on the way I got some great picks of pirate ships and the beautiful ocean and its reefs that seemed as if you could just reach down and touch them.

We were in a little boat like the one seen at the side

Look at the beautiful water! Its literally "aqua" blue!

The Grand Cayman is also known for its Turtle Farm and Stingray Bay of which you get to swim and interact with the stingrays. I had aspirations of doing or seeing neither. I would simply die if a stingray brushed up against me, I don't even like seaweed to touch me at the "regular" beach needless the say on a tropical island and although I love turtles - I didn't need to visit an entire farm of them.

But I did have my eye on a Top 5 Activity of the island: The Tiki Beach - Seven Mile Beach

You know I'm a beach bum! And I think Darryl has officially become a convert. But before we made it to the beach there was shopping at the pier as usual. Soooo, I shopped and bought some souvenirs and found my newest fav store abroad! It was the best candy store ever, I wanted to buy everything but Darryl wouldn't let me. So I had to settle for 1 item (how rude of him to give me restrictions) and took pics of everything else.

Jelly Beans to the ceiling!!!
Darryl found those cigarettes banned in the states!

My fav movie snack! Darryl did buy me these.
I'm TOTALLY in HEAVEN, how can this place be called HELL!!!
Maybe because Darryl wouldn't let me buy this 5lb box of Gummy Bears :(
This place needs a website!

The mannequins dresses were made totally outta candy! I would so wear these and eat off of them all day!
OK, there novelty aisle was hysterical. Check out these hand sanitizers. And they were real!
Wait - was that slutty?

I also was presented with my Mother's Day Gift. A beautiful Black Coral pendant with sand from the island and a little turtle sitting atop. What a lovely way of keeping the island close, so now I have a bit of Grand Cayman sand and I can say I got to see a turtle on the island, too!
Isn't it beautiful?
But our final stop before stepping into the ocean was another most important stop: The Cayman Island Post Office. Now I know that might seem strange but its actually recommended. And the title of my blog should give it away. The district of this island paradise is actually called "Hell".

Cayman Island Post Office
So we walked 3-blocks through town and the shops and passed a clock that crowed like a rooster on the hour which was apparently broke because it was crowing every seemingly 5-minutes (that is until we realized that it wasn't a clock but an actual rooster that had taken up residence with his hen and chicks in the bushes)! When I got close to get pictures, I was informed by locals that it was a "city cock" HA HA HA

Sorry about the wind, I didn't realize it was that windy!

So we made it to the post office, got a few post cards stamped from Hell and some local currency and headed to the beach to enjoy the remainder of the day lounging in the sun. As compared to Montego Bay, the Grand Cayman was definitely more of what I expected in terms of "island tranquility". We didn't wanna leave - planning to revisit and stay longer, we NEED to stay longer.

Check out the post office stamp!

The money is so pretty and its conversion rate is .80/$1.00 almost equal to ours!
