OK, I know this blog is old (like 2 months) but I had to backtrack into 2011. I hope not to do it often. I'm going to give you a rare glimpse into my life as a "Library Technician". Get it right, not a "Librarian" (I was informed that) 'cause you ACTUALLY have to go to college and get a degree for that...who goes to college to become a librarian? I guess one may ask the same thing about a teacher - but I digress.
The Our Heroes' Tree program takes place every November to coincide with Veterans Day to honor those great servicemen and women of our country. A tree (generally a Christmas Tree) is placed in a centralized area and people from all over the installation are invited to place handcrafted ornaments on the tree to symbolize their respect and thanks for the soldiers' commitments. Well since we have some severely PC people here our Christmas tree was not used - instead we had 2 artificial ficus trees wrapped in brown paper towels to simulate a single tree trunk (and just wrapped that in lights) - hot mess; I'm not gonna tell you that a Christmas tree was actually put up in December because that would reinforce the lack of consistency and competency that seems to follow me throughout my worklife (maybe its me)! OMW!
So after gathering all of these ornaments a "formal" ceremony takes place where everyone comes out including veterans from the local VA, the CSM, the soldiers and their families - and we all present our ornaments by saying a few words and placing them on the tree. This year I was given the "honor" of presenting the ornament bestowed upon the library by the founders of the Our Heroes' Tree program and read briefly about it before placing it on the tree.
Now, I was not gonna post pics until I saw a very special one of my supervisor looking at me in a way that was hmmmmm...... well you be the judge! LOL
Isn't it great when everything you do comes so naturally that "haters" just appear; and you're so good that even when your disliked, nothing that can be done about it - it's great to be essential.
Now, I've known people to plot against me; but the essence has never been captured in a stillshot! It's soooooo motivating!
