Splash Pad

The Splash Pad has finally opened on Fort Polk and its great fun. For the mere cost of $2 you can take your child to the Pad and let them run wild with little chance of drowning (there are no pools) and lifeguards are on site to monitor rowdniness and running. It's also adjacent to a great park/playground, the Youth Fishing Pond, and next door to the library. I mean really? You could spend an entire day there and not get bored! LOL

We visited The Splash Pad on Saturday (yes, the day before we headed off to the islands) to get some one-on-one family time with Rah and he had a ball. And so did we as they have the most wonderful anorak chairs, tables, and umbrellas. So you can pack a lunch, lay out on a beach chair, sit in at a picnic table, or lounge in an anorak with a good book - I did the latter, with a PlayAway (its an MP3 book so you can simply listen to it) less to carry around, no wet pages, no pages to turn, and smaller than my Nook - fits right in my pocket or hooks on like an iPod. They're at most libraries with current titles and check-out like books with headphones and a AAA battery.

If you're heading to the beach or pool, pick one up - I took mine to the islands too, gotta stay cuurent on the latest readings.

I snapped a few pics of Rah for you guys to see how big he's getting...

Rah couldn't decide what to do first!

But that didn't take long

It takes all of his strength to make it work! LOL

He played on these water guns for most of the time!

I had to ask him to get on these animals

He thoough these were for the "babies"

But look who's having fun...

Rah just had to stop by the park as we left and as you can see he was pretty upset that Daddy wouldn't get out of the passenger seat of the school bus and get in the back!LOL
